Many Glacier Winter in Glacier National Park
< Prev11 of 17Next >
Leaving the Flathead Valley long before sunrise one crystal clear, cold night, we crossed the Continental Divide at Marias pass just as the first rays of the sun were hitting the snow covered slopes of the Divide.  After a quick stop for coffee in the town of Browning on the Blackfoot reservation, we continued on to the Many Glacier area of Glacier Park.  When we arrived at the farthest place on the road into Many Glacier where the snowplows venture, we were treated to the striking scene shown in this photograph.  However, we couldn't afford to spend any time enjoying it for ahead lay a 14 mile round trip on skis to Swiftcurrent Lake which lies at the base of the mountains in the center of the photograph.
